Remembering Stephen Hawking

Stephan Hawking was a wildly influential figure for me, as he was for so many others. Although there are many wonderful science communicators out there, Hawking’s passion and success against the odds really stood out.

Although he is most well known for his work in theoretical physics, Hawking also took the time to talk to people about depression, support charities, and write a series of children’s books with his daughter Lucy – to name just a few things.

He was a man determined to live life to it’s fullest despite the challenges he faced.

When asked what advice he gave his children, he responded –

1. Always keep working because work gives purpose and meaning in life.

2. Always look at stars, never look down at your feet.

3. If you are lucky enough, you will find love. Never throw it away.

Rest in peace, Stephen Hawking.

  1. What he told his children is about to make me cry! What an incredible scientist and human being he was. He did so much good work and to say he made the most of his time here is putting it beyond lightly. This was a wonderful tribute to a wonderful guy.
